Course overview

This course will provide you with an understanding of the different classifications of medicines (General Sales List, Pharmacy Medicines, Prescription-only Medicines, and Controlled Drugs), and the various restrictions surrounding these. It will also provide you with insight into how medication is absorbed into the body via different routes. You will be introduced to your role and responsibilities in the medication administration process, including how to correctly document medication administration on a Medical Administration Record (MAR).

There will also be information on the various medical assistive devices available to support administration. Finally, you will learn how to respond to issues with medication administration, such as medication errors or adverse drug reactions.
