This course will provide you with an understanding of the different types of trauma and how to take a trauma-informed approach in your practice. It will also provide you with insight into the different responses to trauma, as well as the long-term effects traumatic experiences can have on an individual’s life. You will be introduced to your responsibilities in supporting an individual during and following the disclosure of trauma (including the principles of psychological first aid). Finally, you will learn the importance of supporting individuals to live a personally valued life. This course is aimed at members of the Scottish workforce who are required to be trauma-skilled in line with the National Trauma Transformation Programme.
