Orange The World against violence Campaign Graphic

It is estimated that globally, 243 million women and girls (almost one in three) have been subjected to intimate partner violence, non-partner sexual violence, or both at least once in their life (30 percent of women aged 15 and older). Meanwhile, less than 40 percent of women who experience violence report it or seek help and this is why My Learning Cloud is lending our voice and brand to the Orange the World campaign.

Orange the World: 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.

The annual international campaign starts on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day. It was started by activists at the inaugural Women’s Global Leadership Institute in 1991 and continues to be coordinated each year by the Centre for Women’s Global Leadership. It is used as an organising strategy by individuals and organisations around the world to call for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls.

To support the campaign My Learning Cloud is teaming up with Paragon to provide our customers the opportunity to become Dragonfly Champions by attending Domestic Abuse Awareness Workshops.

Paragon developed the Dragonfly Project with people within local communities so that those who are not well served by mainstream services can be supported to access help if they are affected by Domestic Abuse.

The workshop will give insight into the different types of abuse, the effects of abuse, legislation, and recovery.

About the Dragonfly Project:

The main aim of the Dragonfly Project is to educate and engage people living and working within their communities to become Champions. Dragonfly Champions will become a point of contact for those experiencing abuse and supporting them to access services.  The Dragonfly Project has raised and continues to raise awareness within these communities, enabling individuals to speak out about abuse.

The Dragonfly Project provides Domestic Abuse Awareness Workshops to prepare Champions to carry out their role. The Project seeks to reduce stigma and increase people’s confidence, helping them to talk openly about what is happening.
