This course will provide you with an understanding of what domestic abuse is, who is at risk, and how it can occur (through the cycle of abuse). It will also provide you with insight into the different types of abuse (including coercive control and gaslighting) and their indicators, as well as your responsibilities in safeguarding individuals who are experiencing, or at risk of, domestic abuse.
You will be introduced to legislation that aims to protect individuals from domestic abuse, such as The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 and The Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (Clare’s Law). Finally, you will learn how to respond to suspicions or disclosures of domestic abuse, including how to accurately record and correctly report your concerns.
